The other day they brought me a modem Rostelecom Sagemcom f@st 2804. The problem was that the modem only had one red LED on. This problem appeared after the lights were turned off in the house. To be honest, I doubt that was the problem. I think the user decided to flash the modem and used the wrong firmware. But I will not dispute the problem, since I am not a SC, and I don’t care where the problem came from. The main thing is the very existence of a problem that needs to be corrected.
Sagemcom f@st 2804 is supplied by Rostelecom. Therefore, we will use the Sagemcom f@st 2804 firmware for Rostelecom.

Download the firmware we need. After that we go to " Local network connections" or " Configuring adapter settings" on Windows 10. In principle, many computers will be able to find the Sagemcom f@st 2804 automatically. But if this does not happen, then go to “Local Area Connections” or “Configure adapter settings” on Windows 10.
Once in “Network Connections”, select our adapter and call the context menu. In the context menu select properties.
Going into the properties of the adapter, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties. Put a tick " Use the following IP address" and enter the data manually.

The first time I held it for about 50 seconds, after which I tried to log in, but I still didn’t receive the emergency interface. Therefore, in order not to try different time periods, I simply held down Reset and refreshed the page in the browser every 10 seconds until the disaster recovery interface appeared.
Select the file, in the window that opens we find the file with the firmware, select it and press the button Open. After this you need to press the button Upgrade Software and wait until the router flashes and reboots on its own.

How to update the firmware and run automatic router setup
A router purchased at a Rostelecom showroom comes with a special DVD required to automatically configure the device. Using the same disk, the subscriber is asked to update the Sagemcom Fast 2804 firmware version from v5 to v7. This is necessary for a more stable connection with servers, because... This version was developed and adapted specifically for Rostelecom.
After you insert the disc into your computer's drive, the Rostelecom Setup Wizard will launch automatically. Using the Setup Wizard, you can set all the necessary parameters without connecting to the router’s web interface. To do this, select "Full setup" and follow the program instructions.
If you want to do without the Wizard and make all the changes yourself, select "Update". Wait until firmware v7 is installed on the router, after which you can close the program.
Login to the router admin panel
After updating the firmware, you can begin directly configuring the device in the Web interface:
- Open an Internet browser (browser) on your computer.
- In the address bar, enter the address of your router, which you can find on the label on the bottom cover of the device. If this data is missing, go to the properties of the local connection and find the "Default gateway" parameter. This is the address of your router.
- In the window that opens, the system will ask you to enter your login and password to access the router configurations. This data is also indicated on the router label. The most common combination is "admin" and "admin".
- If the data is entered correctly, the main page of the Sagemcom Fast 2804 v7 web interface will open.
Setting up a network connection
- Select the "Advanced" tab from the menu on the left.
- Enter the "WAN service" section. Check all existing connections and click the Remove button.
- In the Second Layer Interface section, also delete all content.
- Click the "Add" button.
- Now you need to specify the values of the VCI and VPI parameters. These data are individual for each region of Russia. You can find out the values of these parameters by contacting .
- Click "Apply and Save".
- Go to the "WAN service" section and click "Add".
- Select the connection you just created from the list and proceed further.
- Now you need to specify the connection type. As a rule, Rostelecom provides Internet via a PPPoE connection.
- Specify the username and key for the PPP connection. This information is usually provided in about the provision of services. If a copy of the agreement is lost, you can contact Rostelecom customer support. You can specify any name for the service.
- Check the "Retry PPP on error" checkbox.
- You don't need to change anything in the following steps. When finished, click "Apply and Save".
Setting up a router to work with Rostelecom television
To connect a TV set-top box via the Sagemcom Fast 2804 v7 router, you must do the following:
- In the “Second-level interface” section, you need to create another connection and enter the VCI and VPI values, which will differ from the values entered when setting up the Internet.
- In the "WAN service" section, create a new object and select the created connection.
- Select the service type "Bridge" and click "Apply".
- Open the "LAN" tab.
- Here you need to check the “Disable DHCP server” checkbox.
- Check the "IGMP Snooping" and "IGMP Proxy on Bridge" options.
Wi-Fi setup
- In the "WLAN" category, select the "Basic" section.
- Activate the "Enable wireless network" and "Enable multicast transmission" options.
- In the "SSID" line, write the name of your access point.
- Then go to the "Security" category.
- Select authentication using "WPA-PSK", encryption using "TKIP and AES".
- Set your password (at least 8 characters).
- Click "Save".
When finished setting up your router, reboot it. To do this, use the "Reboot" button in the "Management" section or simply disconnect the router from the power supply for a few seconds.

By default, with factory settings, Wi-Fi should already be turned on and active on the router.
To connect your computer or other device to the router, you must enter on the connected device SSID and password Pass. Attention! Parameters for connecting viaWi-Fi installed at the factory can be changed by going to the device menu - SettingsWLAN. In the submenu of this menu item, you can make other settings, such as security settings - authentication methods, encryption methods, etc. Change the settings only if you clearly understand what certain parameters are responsible for.
Turn off/on Wi-Fi using the button on the router body.
If you want to turn off Wi-Fi on your device, you can do this by clicking on the Wi-Fi button on the side panel of the router. When pressed, this button will no longer be illuminated and the indicator on the front panel will turn off. This state will remain after the router is rebooted.
In order to turn Wi-Fi back on the router, you need to press the Wi-Fi button on the side panel again.
Changing Wi-Fi settings via Web browser
The router settings are made using a web browser and, as stated above, in the network settings the computer itself must be configured to automatically obtain an IP address (DHCP client mode).
Launch your web browser and enter “http://192.168.1.1” in the URL field, then press Enter or Return on the computer keyboard.
If everything is connected and entered correctly, the page for entering the username (Username) and password (Password) should open.
By default (factory settings), you must enter:
Username: admin , A field Password: admin.
Click the button OK

Currently, WPA2 is considered the most secure Wi-Fi authentication technology. By default (in factory settings), the router is configured to work with WPA authentication (This method may not be supported by some models of smartphones and tablet computers).
If for some reason you want to change the factory settings such as the password, authentication method or SSID of the device (WiFi network name) via the router’s Web terminal, you can do this in the menu Settings WLAN ->Security.
Note. Recommended to increase the security of your connection viaWi– Fi set authentication methodWPA2- PSK. It is recommended to leave the remaining parameters unchanged.
Then you need to press the button “ Apply/Save" at the bottom of the page .

Step 1. Removing an existing PPP connection. Select a section Additional settings -> WAN service.
In the table by default there is already one existing connection, put a checkmark Delete and press the button Delete.
Step2. Delete existing WAN port settings. Select a section Additional settings -> Second level interface -> ATM PVC interface.
There is also a default PVC 8/32 created here, which does not suit us. Check the Delete box and click the Delete button.
Step3. Creating a PVC connection. After the connection is deleted, press the button Add and create a new one:

Step4. Create a new connection on a new ATM connection. Go to the section WAN service:
To add a new connection, click the button Add.

If you need to configure the connection mode on the modem transparent bridge(Bridge)- for example for IPTV c VPI/VCI 0/50- select a mode Bridging and press Further. You get this result:

If you need to configure the modem in router mode(Router)- choose PPPoE and press Further:
In this window, enter the username and password given to you upon connection. In field PPPoE Service Name you can enter the name of the connection - for example inet. Next, check the box retry PPP on authentication failure and press the button Further.
Here we leave everything as default and click Further.
